Popular Midlothian Chinese buffet set to re-open for first time since pandemic

A popular Midlothian Chinese restaurant is finally set to re-open after being closed for over a year due to the Covid pandemic.

Beijing Banquet, in Danderhall, closed during the midst of various lockdowns due to Covid restrictions in 2021 and never re-opened even when it was deemed safe to do so.

The popular all-you-can-eat Chinese buffet took to social media over the weekend to announce its grand re-opening on October 20 and so far, over 600 people have left a comment on the post and hundreds more have liked and shared it.

They said: "We are finally reopening on Thursday 20 October at 12:00! Bookings are essential please book on our website. Thank you so much to all our customers who email and call us asking about reopening. We appreciate it more than you know!"

The team has been awaiting a date for well over a year. Their last post on Facebook was as long ago as August 2021, when they said: "Dear all, we don't have a date to reopen Beijing Banquet Danderhall yet. We will post it as soon as we know. If you would like to visit us please go to our Sighthill site(open from 11/08/2021). Thank you!"

The restaurant had struggled to operate due to its buffet style approach and various restrictions and lockdown had resulted in them trying their hand at takeaway orders before closing permanently.

However, their sister restaurant in the Sighthill area of Edinburgh has remained open for business since all restrictions were removed.
