Police investigating a "reckless driver" who crashed in a supermarket car park were stunned to find a dog at the wheel.
Officers were called to a Walmart car park in Texas on Thursday after reports of a car crash.
When the Kilgore Police Department arrived at the scene they were expecting to see the owner of the car at the wheel.
But instead, as cops walked to the window of the car, they were met with a four-legged dog at the wheel - looking very guilty.
Police revealed the dog, who was left on his own as his owner went shopping, became very excited and hopped on to the front seat of the car which caused the vehicle to launched forwards.
Fortunately, no one was injured in the crash.
Kilgore Police Department said in a statement on Facebook: " KPD apprehended a reckless driver today after he ran into two cars in the parking lot Walmart.
"Thankfully no one was injured in this crash. One of the victims saw the suspect barrelling down on him but couldn't get out of the way.
"He was shocked to see the driver was a dog!"
"The investigation revealed the dog was sitting in the unoccupied vehicle waiting on his humans while they shopped.
"He apparently got little antsy and bounced around the cab setting this truck in motion.
"The steering column had some prior damage and this pooch must have placed the vehicle in drive.
"He was also wearing a lease and it's believed he got that caught on the emergency brake and released it.
"It doesn't sound feasible but an eyewitness saw the pooch behind the wheel just before the crash. He certainly has a guilty look on his face."
Fortunately, as nobody was injured in the crash, people were able to laugh at the story.
The post left social media users in hysterics as one user joked the driver would struggle to explain the crash to his insurance company: "Explain that one to the insurance company."
Another user joked the dog "was waiting for the paw patrol."
And one user concluded: "I’m glad no one was hurt! Now we can chuckle at the this because doggos really can tend to get into some stuff!"
