Police investigating as 'racist leaflets' posted through letterboxes in Nottinghamshire village

Police are investigating after allegedly racist leaflets were delivered through letterboxes in a Nottinghamshire village. The leaflets, which appeared to come from a far-right group, were distributed in Brinsley earlier this month.

The leaflets, shared with Nottinghamshire Live, make a number of unsubstantiated claims about migrants and immigration. Police say they are aware of the leaflets and have a zero-tolerance approach to hate crimes in the county, taking reports such as this one very seriously.

A Nottinghamshire Police spokesperson said: "We have been made aware of leaflets being delivered to residents in the Brinsley area. Officers are now examining the leaflet to assess if a criminal offence has taken place. Nottinghamshire Police takes a zero-tolerance approach to all hate crime which can have a devastating impact upon individuals and communities. We treat all reports seriously and they will be thoroughly investigated."

One resident, who received a leaflet through their door, labelled it as "vile", adding: "We had a row with the four men who where posting it, they said ‘how is it racist?’ And ‘it’s not racist, it’s the truth’."
