Plans for a care home and 97 accessible flats are set to be decided this week.
The huge site of the former Pelican Pub and Motel on Manchester Road in Altrincham could be transformed into a care home and new accessible flats, if Trafford council’ s planning committee approve it on June 9.
The plans, from New Care (Altrincham) Ltd., are to demolish the site’s existing buildings and replace them. The site will be three storeys high, featuring 97 flats (made up of 80 one-bedroom flats or maisonettes, and 17 two-bedroom flats or maisonettes).

According to the original planning application form, none of the flats proposed for the site are set to be affordable.
The site is expected to provide employment for 80 people once complete.
The existing car park will go from having 84 car spaces to 49 car spaces and six cycle storage spaces.
But not everyone in the community is happy about the proposals.
A number of nearby residents have already written to the council objecting to the plans, concerned about the complex’s height, potential invasion of privacy and one home is very worried about where the care home’s bins will be stored.
One resident said: “The late submission of the waste refusal and bin storage location comes as a huge shock to us as it will be right in front of our house.
“This will create a complete eye sore in addition to the constant noise, smells and will have a direct impact on privacy. Who would want to see bins from their front window?
“Very little thought has been put into the design element of this proposal.”
Trafford council’s planning committee will decide on the application on Thursday June 9 from 6.30pm.
