Almost 90 new homes will be developed in Clydebank following a request from West Dunbartonshire Council’s planning committee to provide more residential parking spaces.
A planning application had previously been brought before members last October to build 38 houses and 50 flats ranging in size from two to five bedroom properties on the land at the corner of Glasgow Road and Mill Road.
But members were concerned about the lack of parking and deferred making a decision until the applicant sorted the parking issues. There will now be 110 parking spaces with nine wheelchair accessible properties and nine disabled parking bays proposed across the site.

An update was presented to the committee on Wednesday.
Labour councillor Daniel Lennie said: “I am pleased to see that the parking facilities have increased and there is potential for 110 spaces. We want people to move here and we need to give them car parking facilities.
“There is no mention here about the provision of overspill. I know the site quite well and I remember when it was first built away back in the 1960s. Do we have any provisions in place to deal with overspill?”
Councillor Lennie was informed that the council would look towards landscape areas to increase parking.
Included in the development is a new cycle path from the railway station car park south to Glasgow Road. The site is also close to National Cycle Route NCR7 and there are a number of bus stops conveniently located on Glasgow Road and Mill Road being less than 100 metres from the development.
Residents will also have the option of using public transport with regular bus and train services close to the site.
Following the discussion, planning permission was granted unanimously subject to conditions.
