City officials in Pinellas County, which includes Treasure Island, have reported that police officers are actively patrolling the area and broadcasting evacuation notices on loudspeakers in preparation for Hurricane Milton.
A video shared on social media by Treasure Island captured a police officer driving around the island with a message repeatedly blasting from the patrol car, urging residents and businesses to secure their properties and evacuate the area promptly.
The police-issued notice stated, “A local emergency currently exists. Quickly secure your home or business and safely evacuate the area. Listen to local media and authorities for additional information.”
Authorities have ordered the evacuation of Zones A, B, and C in Pinellas County as a precautionary measure ahead of the approaching hurricane.
The post from Treasure Island on social media mentioned, “TIPD is patrolling the island, letting residents and businesses know it’s time to evacuate. It looks as if many are taking the evacuation orders seriously.”
