Presenter Piers Morgan has labelled former glamour model Katie Price an "embarrassing train-wreck" in a brutal warning as he urged her to "pull herself together". The 57-year-old, who has been friends with Katie for 20 years, says he fears she is spiralling out of control, reported Devon Live.
In his latest column for The Sun, the former Good Morning Britain host said he could no longer stay silent about her "chaotic" life choices. In a "brutally frank" statement, he told the mum-of-five: "You’re spiralling completely out of control, and this won’t end well if you don’t wake the f**k up pretty damn sharpish and pull yourself together."
In the column, Piers said Katie seemed to be on a "deluded one-woman mission to self-destruct" that was heartbreaking to witness. He recounted some of the situations the 43-year-old has recently been involved in, such as bankruptcy, drug abuse, 'endless' plastic surgeries and her most recent car crash.
He ended his stern words of advice by saying: "Whether you want to hear it or not, someone has to tell you some home truths before it’s too late. Wake up, Katie. Don’t do it for me – do it for your children."
The Metro has reported that Piers and Katie have known each other for years, as she once sat down for an interview with him as part of his Life Stories series in 2009. The former glamour model also supported him when he left his regular slot on Good Morning Britain.
Speaking on Steph’s Packed Lunch, she said: "I like Piers, I know him off telly, I like the man. But also, when he’s on telly, he does say things."
In his open letter to Katie, Piers acknowledged that Katie is a good mum to her severely disabled son Harvey, and he is "massively admiring" of how she cares for him. But he said he was finding it hard to cut her any slack despite this.
He said: "Right now, I’m finding it very hard to praise you for anything because everything you do and say these days smacks of someone who has jumped the shark from amusing entertainer to embarrassing train-wreck."
