Once upon a time, it felt like everyone had a dog called ‘Lucky’ or ‘Max’, or even a cat called ‘Fluffy’. However, it appears some people have grown tired of these typical, generic pet names.
How many times would you hear the name ‘Milo’ or ‘Charlie’ being called out by dog owners as you take a walk in the park?

According to Yappy.com, the most popular dog name in 2021 was Luna, followed by Teddy and Bella.
While it appears human names may still be popular for some pets, a woman who works in pet insurance has revealed a list of pet owners who have gone against the norm.
A woman has gone viral on TikTok after sharing a list of her favourite unique and unusual names you definitely haven’t heard a pet called before.
She shared the video to the TikTok account @figopet which has since been viewed over 6.6m times.
The comment section erupted with disbelief at some of the names that people had chosed for their beloved animal.
Some of the names included pets named Dad, McRib and Car Set French Fry.
“Car Seat French Fry resonates with my soul,” viewer Mandy Lindsey wrote as another viewer, MJ, who presumably was too stunned to speak simply commented “DAD.” Layla added: "LOTION has me crying."
The list also featured TWO Special Agent Dale Coopers which is a character played by Kyle MacLachlan on Twin Peaks.
The actor responded to the viral video saying, “I mean, maybe I’m biased, but I think we all know my favourite.”
Other names on the list included:
Captain Jack Sparrow
Bong
Scissor Bill
Specimen
Speedo
Spicy Tuna
Mr Ugly
Lotion
Home Depot
Homeboy
Homey
Bratwurst
Meanie
People have chimed in to the weird pet name conversation, discussing some of their own hilarious pet names.
“My cat's nickname is “meerkat” cause I’m always telling her “c’mere Cat!” said viewer Nikki Marie.
“Ok I feel seen. My daughter named our fish booster seat,” said TikTok user snowthizzle.
“I work at a vet and we have a patient named Meister Burger Burger Meister,” Ashley said.
Steph said: “I dont feel bad about naming my cats bagel and poptart now.”
Another TikTok user lavaheartpotato said: “I feel validated in name choices. Our dog is Oatmeal and our cat is Catricia (she’s got a real Patricia personality).”
One viewer named Caitlin wrote: “I have a cat named Concrete,” while Paige added “My Cat's name is Karen. My frog was named Mr. urinator.”
Sierra said: “I was in a meeting today and the accountant told us his new dogs name was BUCKET.”
Maybe one of these names will become this year’s most popular pet name.
