Perth High Constables reach out to Ukraine aid in Errol

The Society of High Constables Perth held their AGM on September 5 and used the occasion to hand over the post of moderator, welcome two new members and celebrate a case of one guild member’s 25 years of service.

In his last time in charge, David Cuthbert Jnr welcomed new members Mark Mitchell and Graeme Sinclair to the society.

James (Hamish) Steele, meanwhile, was awarded his long 25-year service baton. He is pictured below with Depute Provost Councillor Andrew Parrott and David Cuthbert Jnr.

The chain of office was passed on by David Cuthbert Jnr to the new moderator, Sandy Scrimgeour.

At a drinks reception held in the Royal George Hotel in Perth on August 30, a collection raised £500 for aid to Ukraine.

The Society of High Constables Perth have donated this to Tayside and Strathearn Help for Ukraine.

And recently, High Constables David Cuthbert and Moderator Sandy Scrimgeour met with Deborah Ovens and Kenneth Simpson, co-ordinators at the Errol facility where Tayside and Strathearn Help for Ukraine is active.

Sandy told the PA : “I was amazed at the level of activity at the warehouse.

“We saw boxes moved, pallets loaded and taken ready for shipment. It was frenetic, but well controlled.”

He went on to add: “We were very impressed by all that is being done in Perthshire for the Ukrainian humanitarian cause.”
