British Transport Police has confirmed that a person died on the railway tracks in Bristol on Saturday. There was "disruption between Bristol Parkway/Newport and Bristol Temple Meads", National Rail said at the time.
Now a spokesperson for British Transport Police confirmed that a person had died on the tracks. A statement said: "British Transport Police were called to the line near Bristol at 8.23am on Saturday 24 September following reports of a casualty on the tracks.
"Paramedics also attended, and sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene. Officers are currently working to establish the full circumstances behind their death."

National Rail gave advice to CrossCountry passengers, telling them that their tickets would be accepted on Great Western Railway services between Cheltenham Spa and Bristol Temple Meads in both directions, as well as multiple other services, including the London Underground and East Midlands Railway.
National Rail used the hashtag '#LawrenceHill' in all of its tweets and, at 11:38am announced that lines had reopened "following the emergency services dealing with an incident" and at 2:47pm a tweet was sent out to say that the incident had been cleared and "disruption between Bristol Parkway/Newport and Bristol Temple Meads has now ended".
