The sources indicated that Biden's response during the call was defensive, with the president asserting that he had seen polling data suggesting he could emerge victorious against Trump.
At one point during the conversation, Biden reportedly requested the presence of his longtime adviser, Mike Donilon, to join the call and discuss the data further. This second known phone conversation between Pelosi and Biden followed the president's lackluster debate performance against Trump in Atlanta last month.
