Overgrown garden path listed on Rightmove for £200 but nobody knows what it's for

A garden path that has been listed on Rightmove for £200 has left house hunters utterly perplexed, and it's difficult to work out what the buyer could do with it precisely. Described on the property website as “land and pathways to the rear” of a residential lane, the exact size of the path is unclear, but it doesn't appear to be wide enough to allow for any vehicle parking.

The mysterious, and extremely overgrown, garden path is understood to snake behind several houses in a residential area of Croydon, southwest London, and its exact purpose isn't made immediately obvious to potential buyers.

The unusual auction listing reads as follows: “Access ways to the rear 13-31 Merebank Lane. For sale in our 7th September auction, online or in person at the Hard Rock Hotel at 2 pm.

“The land is located close to all centre amenities and within walking distance to Waddon Train station. With direct access to the A23 and A232. What three words: hobby.games.margin.”

According to Zoopla, the average house price for a detached home in the borough of Croydon is £703,959.

The confusing path, which appears to be thick with weeds, is up for sale through London City Auctions, a company that describes itself as “offering prestigious high-value luxury properties”.

As per the London City Auctions website, the property firm prides itself on having “innovative and proactive strategies that set us apart from our competitors”.

The Mirror has reached out to London City Auctions for comment.
