One of Liverpool's oldest pubs that has a creepy past is known as the city's 'most haunted building'.
Located on Fenwick Street, The Slaughter House is at the heart of the city and has seen the city adapt and evolve around it. The building itself is a bit of an enigma - no one is certain how long the site has operated as a pub, though it is thought to go back as far as the 1800s.

Chris said: "We knew of the Slaughterhouse being haunted from many local tales and, also, from watching Most Haunted visit here several years ago.
"We made contact with Tom, the licensee, and asked if there would a chance for us to come and see what we could find." Closing early due to "spooky circumstances" Chris and Adam armed themselves with equipment and immediately felt like they were "being watched".
As specialist equipment alerted the team of a "strong energy close by", Chris added: "We used a spirit radio called an S-Box and we managed to get a very strong female coming through saying ‘Chris, the first room’ and then ‘who’s that?’ and ‘help, they’re coming’.
"Using a mobile phone app we would later return to this room where we got a female telling us they were ‘her staff’ and this was her ‘home’. Indeed, ‘home’ came through three times during this session."
Chris added they felt they were being approached as loud taps and knocks could be heard. Headed to the main bar, a clear whistle could be heard which is something many staff have reported hearing over the years.
The Laughterhouse Comedy Club, once the main bar, is now filled with seats as the supernatural team captured "two strange anomalies" described as a "mist-like entity". A strong energy was also felt in the doorway of the room, an area where someone had allegedly lost their life in a fall.
The name "Elizabeth" soon came through the specialist app, as Chris and Adam say could be the female spirit with red hair that several staff have reported seeing walk across the main bar and then disappear. Described as the "most active pub" they have investigated so far, the team said they could not wait to return.
Chris told the ECHO: "We cannot thank Tom, Dean and the staff enough for their hospitality and allowing us to have the building to ourselves. We hope we have now given them at least one name they can call out when things go ‘bump in the night’ and let Elizabeth or Lisa know they are more than happy for her to continue to be there at The Slaughterhouse."
Chris met primary school teacher Adam two years ago and during the pandemic, they decided to set up their own 'Haunted Scouse' YouTube channel, exploring Liverpool's spookiest places. What began as a hobby, Chris and Adam wanted to share Liverpool's important history and it has grown from strength to strength.
