Oil companies Shell and BP have initiated precautionary measures by evacuating non-essential employees along the Gulf of Mexico in anticipation of Hurricane Beryl's arrival this weekend. BP has confirmed the removal of non-essential personnel from its Mad Dog platform, while Shell has started evacuating non-essential staff from its Perdido and Whale assets.

Shell has taken the additional step of pausing some of its drilling operations across the Gulf of Mexico, as indicated by their Storm Center. Both companies have assured that they will closely monitor weather conditions and adjust their responses accordingly.
