An 18-year-old man has been charged after a crash in Sydney's southwest which injured five of his teenage passengers.
The five teens were taken to hospital after the car hit a power pole in Beverly Hills about 6am on Friday.
The crash drew comparisons to a similar incident on September 6 when five high school students were killed and an 18-year-old man was injured in a crash at Buxton, south of Sydney.
Two 16-year-old female passengers were treated at the scene by paramedics and taken to St George Hospital in stable conditions.
Two male passengers, 15 and 16, were treated at the scene and taken to Liverpool Hospital in stable conditions.
The driver sustained minor injuries and was taken to Liverpool Hospital for mandatory testing and treatment.
One male passenger was released from hospital, with the three others remaining under medical care.
On Saturday, police charged the driver with dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, negligent driving causing grievous bodily harm, cause bodily injury in charge of motor vehicle (x3), and drive whilst suspended.
He was refused bail and will appear via a bedside hearing on Sunday.
