Mark Spencer, Leader of the House of Commons and MP for Sherwood, is facing backlash after his interview on BBC Breakfast. Mr Spencer appeared on the show on Thursday, August 11, to discuss measures to tackle the rising cost of living and energy bills, but viewers were more interested in a light box sign on his book shelf.
The sign stated 'Sheep or Leader' and many viewers are not happy about it. Many have expressed there displeasure over the sign and parts of the interview on Twitter. One viewer tweeted: "Think that says sheep or leader behind him on the cabinet - well in my eyes it’s a party full of sheep with no actual shepherd."
A second wrote: "Mark Spencer, leader of the house of commons, has a sign behind his left shoulder saying " SHEEP OR LEADER " If he doesn't know himself there's no hope!" Another Twitter user wrote: "The arrogance of this man, have a look at the sign. Sheep or Leader?"

In addition to the lightbox sign, many other viewers were frustrated with the content of the interview. One Twitter user wrote "the arrogance is beyond belief.
"This is Mark Spencer MP, Leader of the House. Compassion zero. Humility Zero. How did we get here?"
Yet second wrote "Mark Spencer having witnessed your performance on GMB you single handedley showed why the who of parliament are held in such low esteem by the country… “Let’s not go down that rabbit hole” when asked about the theft of taxpayers money funding expenses."
