North Shields fisherman taken to hospital after heart attack at Royal Quays Marina

A North Shields fisherman has been taken to hospital after suffering a heart attack at the Royal Quays Marina.

The Tynemouth Volunteer Life Brigade was called at around 8.49pm on Friday, March 17 following reports that a skipper of a fishing trawler moored at the marina in North Shields was suffering from chest pains.

The Brigade said that they helped the North East Ambulance Service to provide first aid to the man at the scene and paramedics confirmed he had suffered a heart attack. He was then taken to hospital for further treatment.

"Brigade members provided first aid to the casualty and carefully moved him from his trawler to the Brigade vehicle.

"Once an ambulance had arrived on the scene, the casualty was confirmed to have suffered a heart attack and was taken to hospital for further assessment and treatment. The Brigade was stood down around 10.15pm."
