Nominations are rolling in for the region’s charity champions – but there’s still time to make sure your heroes get the recognition they deserve.
The annual North East Charity Awards, run by ChronicleLive and TeessideLive, celebrate our local charities, the voluntary sector and the people and companies that support them. The awards give us all a fantastic opportunity to thank the organisations that do so much to help people in our region and shine a light on the fantastic work of our region’s top charities, as well as charity leaders and individual fundraisers.
The awards are headline sponsored by Brewin Dolphin, and are in association with VONNE and the Sir James Knott Trust.
Nominations close on August 17 and there will be 11 awards presented at the special awards dinner, taking place at The Fed in Gateshead on October 19. The award categories include the Outstanding Social Enterprise Award, the Outstanding Contribution to Social Change Award and the overall North East Charity of the Year.
The Newcastle United Foundation took the title of North East Charity of the Year at last years event. The Foundation uses football to help around 50,000 people a year in Tyneside and Northumberland and has a range of programmes that operate in areas such as disabilities, health and wellbeing, and young people.
Jeffrey Ball, charity investment advisor at Brewin Dolphin and Chair of the Judging Panel, said: “Nominating someone for an award is such a great way of recognising their efforts, or saying thank you for their support.
“Simply to be shortlisted is hugely exciting and a badge of honour that people and organisations can wear to continue to tell their story in the community they are so passionate about. We are always thrilled to read about the amazing activity that has taken place in our region in the last 12 months, all of which shows that the North East charity sector and those that work in it and support it are truly special.”
