Nick Candy is lodging a bid for Chelsea and has revealed plans to appoint a fan representative to the board.
The property tycoon has been exploring a bid in the region of £2.5billion as part of a consortium.
On Sunday he confirmed to Standard Sport that he is bidding to buyout Roman Abramovich and also expanded on his vision for the European champions.
Candy has already made clear his intentions to redevelop Stamford Bridge if he takes control - eyeing a £1.5bn spend on the stadium.
And now the lifelong Chelsea fan says supporters will be a key part of his takeover.
Candy, who is attending Sunday’s game against Newcastle at Stamford Bridge, has directly answered the plea of the Chelsea Supporters’ Trust to involve them in the new ownership structure.
In a statement to Standard Sport, a spokesperson for Candy said: “We welcome the news that the sale of the club will be conducted quickly.
“This is a reassuring development for fans after a week of great uncertainty.
“Mr Candy cares hugely about the future of the club and believes that the fans and the community are central to its continued success.
“Should his bid be successful, Mr Candy would advocate for a fan representative to join the Board so supporters become part of the decision-making process.
“If the club requires money to operate in the short term, Mr Candy would be happy to help ensure it has the necessary financial resources, subject to government approval.”
US merchant bank Raine Group have extended the deadline for official offers to March 18 following Abramovich being sanctioned by the UK Government last week.
