Eddie Howe has made an early attempt to try to manage expectations when it comes to the summer transfer window at Newcastle United.
The Toon boss warned that he does not expect a major shopping spree but accepted there would be comings and goings at Benton. With new owners at the helm getting braced for their first summer window, Howe stated that some players would be remaining on Tyneside.
Howe said: "I’m happy with the squad while acknowledging that time never stands still and you have to look to continually improve and evolve. I’ve got no problem with looking outwards and saying: ‘Right, we need certain things’.

"But I don’t think it will be the revolution that everyone thinks it will be, and it can’t be because we’re under financial restrictions. It’s not just a case of signing anybody — that will never be my way of working because it’s got to be someone who fits in the structure of the team and makes the team better, not just a very good individual. I don’t think it will be a case of wholesale changes."
One player Howe is keen to retain is midfielder Sean Longstaff who remains in contract talks with the club. Howe said: "Talks are continuing. He's someone I've got a lot of respect for, a lot of time for.
"He's certainly someone we like and believe in. I see a long-term future for him here. We just hope that we can get the contract sorted."
