Home Bargains has invested approximately £1m in a new store in Hamilton, which will open on 12 March.
Situated at Palace Grounds Retail Park, it will create 44 new jobs in the local community, with 63 team members overall, including some who will be transferring from nearby stores.
Scott Wylie, the new Hamilton store manager, said: “I started my Home Bargains journey three years ago as a manager, after working for Tesco for over 15 years in a managerial position.
“A lot of hard work and dedication has gone into the new site, and I can’t wait to open its doors this weekend alongside such a fantastic team.”
The 16,867 sq ft site, which formerly housed a Poundstretcher, will offer homewares, health and beauty products, sweets, snacks and drinks, as well as fresh and frozen food.
The company has more than 575 stores across the UK and employs around 28,500 staff. It intends to continue with expansion plans, aimed at growing to 800 stores and 35,000 staff.
