Netflix is reportedly working on a live streaming service

After broadcasting film and television into our homes for years, Netflix might be experimenting with live streaming. Sort of like Twitch, only without the poggers emote.

As reported by Deadline, Netflix may begin supporting live streaming. It’s unclear exactly how this would work or if Twitch is even a fair comparison, as the report suggests the added functionality could be for stand-up specials and unscripted shows. Pretty much how game shows on cable sometimes were live, back when dinosaurs roamed the earth.

When most think of live streaming, they think of Twitch broadcasts. Netflix has been slowly adding titles to its mobile app, and obviously, there are several shows on the platform based on popular video games. Arcane: League of Legends was tremendously successful, and more adaptations like Bioshock, Mega Man, and Sonic Prime are in the works as well.

Again, there are no official details on how live streaming would work on Netflix. Just imagine how much fun it’ll be explaining what chat raids are to your dad. Or better yet, what on earth ASMR is. On second thought, forget about the latter.
