All six aboard killed in chopper crash

Kathmandu: Six people, including five Mexican tourists and a Nepali pilot, were killed in a helicopter crash in Nepal's Mount Everest region.

The helicopter was carrying five foreign tourists who were on a sightseeing tour of the world's highest peak. It was scheduled to return to Kathmandu on Tuesday morning. Airport official said that due to unfavourable weather conditions, the helicopter had to change its flight route.

According to media reports, the helicopter operated by Manang Air, which was transporting foreign tourists from the Mount Everest region in Nepal, went missing on Tuesday, and authorities lost contact with the aircraft. The chopper that has call sign 9NMV got off the radar at 10:12am (Local Time).

Two helicopters of Altitude Air have been pressed in service for the rescue operations. Another helicopter from Simrik Air is also being mobilized for the rescue operation. (with Agency inputs)
