Mum-of-two writes own Facebook death post after cancer mistaken for 'trapped nerve'

A mum announced her own death on Facebook after her cancer was mistaken for a ‘trapped nerve’.

Judith Green complained to medics about an ache that repeatedly flared up over the course of ten years, but she was told that it was just a trapped nerve and would eventually sort itself out.

The mum-of-two from West Lothian was left devastated when she was diagnosed with myeloma, a form of blood cancer which usually affects men over the age of 60, The Daily Record reported.

Judith and husband Steven were floored by the diagnosis she received in 2019, but she vowed to fight on to ‘meet her future grandchildren’.

The 44-year-old had a stem cell transplant the year after her diagnosis, but within just seven months the cancer returned.

Running out of options for herself, she began campaigning tirelessly to recruit new bone marrow donors to help others receiving the transplant.

Tragically, at the end of November, Judith announced her own death on Facebook.

In a pre-planned post the courageous mum informed everyone who had helped and supported her that she had died.

Posted to her Facebook on her Getting Crafty business page, she wrote: "Hi all, Judith here. Well it was me who wrote this but it will be my brother Dale posting on my behalf.

"So, this is it. My time is over. I am no longer alive. I just wanted to say 'thank you' to every single one of you. Thank you for supporting my Getting Crafty page over the last eight years. Thank you for allowing me to create gifts for you and your loved ones.

"Thank you for the kindness you gave when my hubby nearly died. Thank you for supporting my cancer Journey. Thank you for everything! All my love Judith xXx."

Dozens of heartfelt tributes have poured in for the mum, who will be laid to rest on Monday, December 5.

One friend said: "May you rest in peace Judith. What an incredible lady and mummy who fought so blooming hard. Sending my sincere condolences to your hubby, children and the rest of your family and friends. Rest in peace now your pain has ended."

Another wrote: "So sad to read this. We used to have such a laugh at work. You were such a beautiful person Judith, hope the next place is better to you. RIP, love and prayers to your family."

A third commented: "You were an inspiration to all. I will never forget the first day we met and the support you gave me in my very first job and your caring, understanding and loving personality. My thoughts are with your boys and family."

Another added: "I am so so sorry to hear this. Judith, you were an amazingly kind human and I will always remember that amazing smile. Thinking of you all at this sad time."
