Mrs Hinch fans' simple 48p hack for banishing shower mould using common household item

Every bathroom's number one enemy is limescale and during the cold winter months, mould is an even bigger problem on showers, taps and windows around the house. As temperatures plummet outside, water condensation on surfaces can lead to unwanted mould if left untreated.

If there's anywhere you want to be sparkling clean, it's the place where you wash yourself. To help banish shower mould, avid fans of cleaning guru Mrs Hinch - real name Sophie Hinchliffe - are sharing their golden advice on a cleaning tips Facebook group. Thanks to their savvy recommendations, you'll know exactly what to do next time limescale takes over your bathroom.

In a recent post, one person wrote: "Does anyone know any effective ways to clean this build-up of limescale and mould? Plus any tips for cleaning cloudy stained shower screens. Thank you."

After posting, a tipster was quick to suggest a Mrs Hinch favourite, The Pink Stuff cleaning paste, to use with a scrubbing brush or toothbrush.

Another woman suggested limescale cleaner and a third advised half a lemon dipped in bicarbonate soda.

"Remember to dry the shower after every use with an old towel," they said.

"Leave doors open to dry and open bathroom windows to ventilate shower and fully dry."

Though some ideas came out on top, including one cleaning guru's hack to use a razor.

They said: "I've scrubbed with a blade but don't press too hard so you won't scratch the surface."

Many avid cleaners suggested white wine vinegar, which is common in most households and can be bought for as little as 95p a bottle.

A tipster advised using half a bottle of white wine vinegar (48p) and half a bottle of water in an empty spray bottle.

"After you've got rid of it, keep it up by using a window scraper on the glass and dry all the rest with an old flannel, after every use, it will prevent build up," they said.

A second cleaning fanatic agreed: "White vinegar works wonders. Spray onto glass, leave overnight, wipe off. Soak kitchen paper, apply to area, leave overnight."
