Yvette Fielding has revealed the terrifying moment she first saw a ghost.
The 54-year-old Most Haunted star said her first paranormal experience didn’t happen until she was in her late twenties.
She woke up at her mum’s house to see a young man in a military uniform chopped in half from the waist down.
“In the Second World War, the nearby railway line was used to transport troops. One lad didn’t want to fight, so he threw himself off the train and got cut in half – that’s the man I saw at the foot of the bed,” Yvette told New magazine.

This experience led to her interest in the spirit world – and Yvette is now one of the most respected figures in the paranormal community.
For decades she toured the country in search of Britain’s most haunted hotspots, scaring the pants off viewers who looked on from the safety of their sofas.
Offscreen, she even lives in a house that is haunted with her Most Haunted producer husband Karl Beattie.
Their period property in Cheshire is home to not one, but four ghosts – plus a mummified cat that was discovered under the bathtub, which they once moved but put back when “all hell broke loose”.
Other guests include the spirit of a cavalier called Charles Deacon, who was murdered by the Roundheads during the English Civil War.
Two small children called Master Benjamin and Elizabeth also haunt the house, as does Yvette’s late father, Alan, who died from a heart attack in 2008.
The house has its creepy moments – chairs have been stacked on her kitchen table, and her mum won’t stay over as she woke to find a man dressed in black standing over her.
But Yvette said there is no bad energy, as every spirit there is good.
She counts her dad Alan as her ‘guardian Angel’ and believes he even helps other spirits to come through when she holds seances.
Describing a particularly spooky moment where he made an appearance, Yvette shared: “We set a place for him at the table on my 40th birthday and heard lots of knocking.
“When we later looked back at photos taken that day, we saw a blue orb above my head. We zoomed in and were stunned to see Dad’s face.”
She added: “I know nothing bad will ever happen to me because he’s right there by my side. I often chat to him out loud and he’ll make noises in return. Once, he called me a skinny cow for dieting! He was a real character and that hasn’t changed.”
