Valentine's Day is the chance to tell your partner how much they mean to you, no matter how expensive the gift.
While some people prefer thoughtful gifts, or even handmade, those fortunate enough to be blessed with a little extra pocket money may wish to splash out on the more outrageous romantic dinners and expensive gifts.
Some Brits enjoy some lavish spending, and the world's most romantic day is that chance to thumb their nose at desperate people in line outside Pandora as they tuck into heavily priced meals bedecked in edible gold.
From golden steak to thousand-pound puddings, here are some of the most outlandish and crazy Valentine's Day gifts eaten by lovestruck Brits.
What is the most expensive dessert in the UK?
The UK's most expensive dessert is a £22,000 chocolate egg.
The recipe belongs to Chef Marc Guibert at Lindeth Howe Country House Hotel in Windermere and is styled in the shape of a Faberge Easter egg.
Its whopping expense is so high due to the egg being coated with edible gold leaf and champagne jelly, not to mentioned the two-carat diamond nestled at the top.
Of all the luxury cities the wealthy may choose to turn to such as New York, London or Milan, Cumbria is not necessarily top of the list.
However, it is the Cumbrian restaurant that houses this most lavish of chocolate treats, available only to people who order it three weeks in advance
Salt Bae's £1,450 steak
Steak is expensive at the best of times, but consider this golden hunk of meat for a filling £1,450 Valentine's Day meal.
Famous viral restauranter Salt Bae, real name Nusret Gökçe, is known for serving up the golden tomahawk steak for meat-hungry lovers to get their teeth into.
After being cooked, the meat is then coated in 24-carat gold leaf.
The steak has been reported to actually cost £700. However, one famous Essex celebrity contends that the dish actually costs a lot more than that.
TOWIE's Gemma Collins visited the restaurant in October last year and was stunned by the price of her meal.
She said on The Gemma Collins Podcast : "The bill was another situation, I was in utter shock. But you have to weigh these things up, the press reported that my steak cost £700, if only they knew.
"I wish it cost £700. It actually cost £1,450."
She went on: "I went a bit over the top, but the only way I can justify it was that I haven't been on holiday this year."
Valentine's Day at the Ritz
For most, tea at The Ritz is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
London's rich and wealthy can trot along and spend a mere £325 per person for Valentine's Day tea at the city's most famous hotel. Expensive, but modest in comparison to Salt Bae's steak and the Cumbrian egg.
