When you're getting changed before or after the gym, the likelihood is that you'll want to be out as soon as possible, able to get on with your day, or ready and raring for your workout. You'll be minding your own business, and the last thing that you'll want to do is waste valuable time on your phone.
But Ebony Day, who posts on TikTok as @ebonyday10, was left mortified after she had an awkward run-in with a naked woman at the gym, who looked "so angry" with her, and she had no idea why - until she left the changing room and it all became horrifyingly clear.
"The most embarrassing thing just happened to me. I can never step foot in my gym ever again", Ebony admitted.
She continued: "I walked into the gym changing room and there was a lady in there, naked, like, completely butt naked. And, fine, not bothered about that.
"I mean, there's changing rooms with doors, but if she wants to be naked in there I respect the confidence. Anyway, I go over to the locker and I'm like 'oh god'", then she burst into fits of giggles as she recalled the traumatising tale.
She explained that she was struggling because she had too much stuff to carry, so she put her phone under her arm, not realising that the camera was facing outwards - pointing in the direction of the naked lady. "I don't know why I didn't just put my phone on the floor", she cringed.
Ebony then explained she was putting things into her locker, whilst her phone was still under her arm. "The naked lady is literally right there", she said. "Everything's out, she's just getting changed. And obviously, I'm not looking because she's naked and I don't want to make this embarrassing or awkward for her.
"So now I'm putting my things in the locker, and then I turn around and she's looking at me like I'm a psychopath, and I was like...why's she staring at me like that? You're the one that's naked. Anyway, I put my stuff in, and I walk out of the gym changing rooms and I grab my phone from out of my arm."
And then Ebony had the horrendous realisation that her torch was on the whole time. "I just stood there in the hallway looking at the torch on my phone, and then thinking about the stare that I just got in the changing room and then looking at the torch on my phone, then realising I think she thought I was videoing her.
"No wonder she stared. I was looking at her like 'what's up with you? Why do you look so angry?' Wow, I don't think I can ever enter that gym again. There's going to be a poster of me on the door saying I'm a freak."
In the comments, people had second-hand embarrassment.
One wrote: "Hahaha soon as said where you put your phone I knew."
"Whyyyy do the iPhone torches ONLY come on at the most inconvenient times? I never use it! Yet when I REALLY don't wanna use it there it is", another fumed.
"OMG I thought you were going to say you were recording by accident", a TikToker wrote, reminding Ebony it could always be worse.
