More stats showing how abysmal 2022 Titans were in 4th quarter

It’s no secret that the Tennessee Titans’ offense struggled mightily in 2022, but for whatever reason, those struggles often got amplified in the second half of games.

Believe it or not, the Titans only produced a combined total of 94 second-half points in 17 games last season, good enough for an average of 5.52 points per second half. Also, Tennessee only scored 10 or more points after halftime in just three games.

Those numbers speak for themselves, but Warren Sharp recently conducted some research that provided more insight into how historically bad the Titans were in the fourth quarter of games in 2022.

According to Sharp, the Titans not only finished last in EPA (expected points added) per play in the fourth quarter (-0.27), but over the last 22 years there has only been one team (2006 Oakland Raiders) that was worse in the final quarter of play than last season’s Titans.

Sharp also points out that the Titans would’ve finished with an 11-4-2 record, a division crown and the No. 3 seed if their games ended after three quarters, yet they finished with a 7-10 record due to a -54 point margin in the final frame.

Needless to say, if the Titans are going get back to the playoffs in 2023, they must fix their historically bad second-half woes sooner rather than later.
