Shoppers are loving a 'refreshing' alternative to white wine that they insist is so good that it 'mysteriously vanished' within 24 hours of opening it.
Loxwood Meadworks have released a honey wine, also known as mead, that shoppers are insisting goes down a treat as the classic drink has been adapted for a modern audience.
Mead is one of the oldest alcoholic drinks known to man and is enjoyed around the world, with it being suggested that it is the drink known as 'Nectar of the Gods' from Greek mythology.
Not only that but the honeyed wine coined the romantic term of a 'honeymoon', in the Middle-Ages when a couple were first married they were given enough mead to last a full moon cycle which led to the sweet term that is still used today.
Festival 18 is a delicately sweet honey wine, designed for the modern palate. The unique wine is served at Michelin-starred tables and at wine and gastro-destinations across the UK.
The sweet wine has an ABV of 11% and has a light honey flavour with a smooth finish, it's unlike classic wines on the market making it an interesting option to try this month.
Shoppers insist that that it is perfect for ending a meal with and it's perfect for cozy nights in or when entertaining guests.
One shopper wrote: "Great flavour and texture and a wonderful alternative to a dry wine."
A second penned: "So good, the contents of the bottle mysteriously vanished in one day?"
A third added: "Very nice honeyed white wine style version of mead. Lighter and less sweet than most, it goes down very nicely chilled on this hot summer night."
A fourth said: "Loxwood Mead is good to have for aperitif, with a cake or to compliment a poultry. A great option if you like to try something different."
