Three has reintroduced roaming charges for customers heading to a number of destinations across the globe.
Holidaymakers on the network face paying £2 a day to use their UK text, calls and data allowances when travelling to countries in the European Union.
The change will affect pay monthly, or SIM-only customers who signed up, or rewed their contract from October 1, 2021, the Mirror reports.
Anyone who joined the provider before that, and has not upgraded their contract since then, will not be charged until they sign a new deal with the company.
Roaming charge changes will not affect customers on pay-as-you-go.
Three has also ditched its “Go Roam” service for a number of destinations outside of Europe - including the likes of Australia, New Zealand and the USA.
Mobile companies were previously banned from charging customers extra fees for using their UK allowance when holidaying in the EU.
However, this no longer applies with the Brexit transition period drawing to a conclusion.
A spokesperson for Three said: “The new charge ensures that customers are clear on what they will pay when using their phone in another country and only those who roam will pay for the service.
“It will also ensure that we can continue investing in our UK network.”
The announcement follows similar moves from rival networks Vodafone and EE, who’ve also brought back roaming charges for millions of customers.
O2 has also changed its “fair use” policy - this caps the amount of your UK data allowance you can use for free while roaming in Europe.
Network providers were allowed to set fair usage caps before Brexit, and this is separate to flat-fee roaming charges.
