Winter is well and truly here as Met Eireann has forecasted freezing temperatures for Ireland.
The next few days will enjoy some winter sun but the national forecaster said wet and windy weather with subzero temperatures will grip the country. The mercury is set to plummet to a freezing -1 degree next week.
Today will be bright and dry with good sunny spells. The highest temperatures will be around 9 or 10 degrees.

It will be cold and dry tonight with clear skies and a few mist patches. The lowest temperatures will be around 2 or 3 degrees.
Tomorrow will be bright and dry at first but will become cloudier in the afternoon with wet and windy conditions spreading from the west by evening. The highest temperatures will be around 9 to 11 degrees.
There is no further forecast for Dublin but here is what the national outlook says:
Saturday night
"Any residual rain will clear the east early in the night while scattered showers will extend over the western half of the country. However it will turn mostly dry and clear in the east.
"Lowest temperatures of 3 to 6 degrees in a moderate to fresh and blustery westerly wind.
Sunday
"Bright and breezy with sunshine and scattered showers. They will be most frequent over the western half of the country. Highest temperatures of 6 to 10 degrees in a moderate to fresh westerly wind.
Sunday night
"Clear spells early in the night with a touch of grass frost possible in Ulster as lows dip to between 1 and 4 degrees but it will be milder in the southwest where rain will extend from the Atlantic early in the night.
"The rain, which will be heavy at times, along with moderate to fresh southeasterly winds, will extend across the country through the night reaching the northeast by morning.
Monday
"It will be a wet start to the morning across the country, the rain will gradually clear from the southwest through the morning, although sunny spells and scattered showers will follow and they may merge to longer spells of rain at times.
"Highest temperatures of 6 to 10 degrees in mostly light to moderate west to southwest winds, veering strong northwesterly in the southwest later."
