Meghan Markle wanted to be "queen bee" when she was a working royal and didn't understand the "pace" of the palace, a royal expert has claimed.
Meghan spent less than two years in her royal role after marrying Prince Harry before the pair quit and moved to America. And their time as working royals and the relationship they had with palace courtiers has been detailed in a new book. Called Courtiers: The Hidden Power Behind The Crown, author Valentine Low includes several bombshell claims including one that says that some of the royal couple's former team dubbed themselves the 'Sussex Survivors Club'.
And royal expert Katie Nicholl, who discussed the recent allegations about Meghan's behaviour towards her staff, says she believes there were "personality clashes".
She told True Royalty TV's The Royal Beat: "I don't think the fact that [Meghan] sent early morning emails was actually a huge issue because [the King] will send late-night emails as well.
"But my understanding from the people that I spoke to, many of whom did work for the Sussexes, was that Meghan in particular [would] want everything done now.
"She expected an immediacy that went with those dawn emails so that she'd hatch an idea, want it executed by the next day, and didn’t quite get that the Palace worked at a different pace.
"I think there were culture clashes, there were personality clashes, but I think ultimately, Meghan did want to be queen bee."
Meghan's lawyers have denied any allegations of her bullying staff.
It comes as a former palace insider is quoted in the book as saying Meghan thought she was going to be the "Beyoncé of the UK".
In an extract of the book published in the Times, they tell the author: "I think Meghan thought she was going to be the Beyoncé of the UK. Being part of the royal family would give her that kudos.
"Whereas what she discovered was that there were so many rules that were so ridiculous that she couldn’t even do the things that she could do as a private individual, which is tough . . . It just required the decision-makers to sit around a table and say, ‘OK, what are we going to do about this?
"What do you need to feel better? And what can we give?’”
Meghan has previously shared how she felt "silenced" and trapped while living as part of the Firm.
