McDonald's has announced that it will close all its UK restaurants to mark the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II on Monday.
September 19 has been declared a bank holiday for the nation to bid farewell to Britain's longest serving monarch. A number of shops, businesses and tourist attractions across the country have said they will remain shut on the day as a mark of respect.
Now McDonald's has confirmed it will also be closing its sites until 5pm on Monday. The news was announced on its social media channels on Wednesday afternoon.

On Twitter, the fast food chain said: "All of our UK restaurants will be closed on Monday until 5pm, to allow everyone at McDonald’s to pay their respects to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Operating hours and services may vary after 5pm, so please check our app before travelling."
A number of people took to social media to comment on the decision. One said: "It's not what the Queen would have wanted. She loved a McFlurry." Another added: "It’s closed for a day not for life!"
It is down to retailers to decide whether they wish to close for the Queen's funeral or not. Supermarkets are among the organisations that have said they will close on Monday.
A Government statement said: “Monday 19 September, the date of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s State Funeral, will be a national bank holiday. This will allow individuals, businesses and other organisations to pay their respects to Her Majesty and commemorate Her reign, while marking the final day of the period of national mourning."
