A TikTok user was disturbed to discover McDonald's Sweet 'n' Sour dip included a fruit other than pineapple.
McDonald's has long been considered a family favourite and, despite not being the healthiest option for tea, has remained the go-to for fast food. In recent years, the franchise has made an effort to be transparent with its ingredients but a new finding has left TikTok users in a stir.
One of the most popular items, McNuggets, are usually accompanied by one of several dips. Among those is the Sweet 'n' Sour option. Whilst there generally has never been an issue with it, one eagle-eyed customer has spotted something that completely changed her view on the condiment forever.

Evan-May Gillott, 27, claims to have been left 'shaken' after finding out her favourite sauce contained fruit, having never even so much as 'associated' the condiment with fruit. Sharing her curious discovery online, Evan-May asked others to try and guess what fruit the iconic sauce actually contained. Many were left just as thunderstruck as she had been by the answer, with one person positively aghast that 'the worst fruit to exist makes the tastiest sauce'.
Taking to TikTok, with a video that has since clocked up more than 242,000 views and 13,000 likes, Evan-May said: "Am I the only one who didn't know what fruit it is made from until today?"
The TikTok user then went on to reveal that the fruity ingredient was in fact apricot, not pineapple or mango as some had wrongly guessed, leaving many of her followers in a state of complete astonishment.
One user said: "I was 100% convinced it was pineapple, maybe cos they put it in the little tubs when you get a Chinese". Evan-May added: "When I found out it was apricot I was shaken to my core as didn’t even associate it with fruit. I’ve eaten sweet ’n’ sour sauce from McDonald's for years to go with my chippies, I’ve always loved it.
"About a week ago I won a free meal through monopoly and whilst eating the sauce I just became curious about what it was actually made of. So I read the ingredients and was completely shocked to find out it was from apricots."
"I’ve never actually thought about it, but now I’m wondering about all sorts of condiments - I mean what about brown! They’re just so elusive." She added: "I assumed that everybody wouldn’t know as well, so had to share my discovery with my fellow McDonald’s lovers. Turns out everybody is as surprised as me, and I’ve even now found out the curry sauce uses apricot as well."
