Matt Brittin has been appointed as a non-executive director of Guardian Media Group board, taking up the position on 1 February.
Matt recently stepped down from eighteen years at Google, the last ten as President for Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
He led a third of Google’s global business, growing teams and relationships across the region. Matt was a driving force behind Grow with Google which trained over 25 million people in EMEA and tens of millions more around the world for the jobs of the future.
Prior to joining Google in 2007, Matt spent time in media, marketing and strategy, including as commercial director at Trinity Mirror. He also served nine years on the board of Sainsbury’s and has been a trustee of charities including the Media Trust and the Climate Group.
Matt was a member of the British rowing team for a number of years winning medals at the World Rowing Championships and part of the British Olympic team in Seoul.
