Shoppers are being warned they have just days to avail of a simple trick that could help them hold onto expiring vouchers. Tesco issues Clubcard vouchers every three months in February, May, August and November. These are normally valid for two years meaning any vouchers issued in November 2020 will expire on November 30.
But MoneySavingExpert Martin Lewis has revealed how consumers worried about not making the most of their vouchers could extend them with a simple trick costing as little as 50p. Speaking on The Martin Lewis Money Show on ITV this week Mr Lewis said £13m worth of vouchers would expire in eight days but that customers could retain them if they act fast enough, according to the Mirror.
“Check whether you’ve got [vouchers to use] at Tesco.com/Clubcard or via the app,” he said. You need a minimum of 150 points to get a Clubcard voucher which will be worth £1.50 to spend in Tesco.

There is a way to triple your points if you redeem them with more than 100 'Reward Partners' including Thorpe Park, Pizza Express and the RAC. Shoppers can also use their vouchers to bring down the cost of their festive shop, on fuel or with Tesco Mobile. But Mr Lewis explained that there is a trick to extend your vouchers if you’re not quite ready to spend them yet.
It involves making a small purchase with your Clubcard vouchers and having the remaining balance credited back to your account with another two-year deadline. “Take your £10 voucher online and buy a 50p restaurant voucher on its Reward page, which is worth £1.50 because they triple it," he said.
"Now you will get reissued £9.50 - the change - in vouchers, and they are new vouchers so they have a two-year lifespan.” Clubcard members should be receiving their next set of Clubcard vouchers this month which will again be valid for two years.
