Martin Lewis' warning after beating David Attenborough for National Television Award

Martin Lewis took a bow after being announced the winner of the expert category National Television Award.

The Money Saving Expert founder beat national treasure David Attenborough. He looked shell-shocked as his name was called out.

Taking to the stage to accept the award, Martin said: "Wow." He was then speechless for a moment as the crowd cheered and hollered and he took that moment to take a bow.

The consumer expert said: "You know when you're up against an international treasure like David Attenborough you don't normally expect to win. I'm quite shocked."

He went on to thank his team on the Martin Lewis Money Show and his website's team. Martin added: "It's been a horrible year financially. I mean the energy crisis has been disastrous and has left many people with terrible issues and mental health problems."

The money mogul added that next year may be just as bad, as he said: "We need somebody that can get a grip on the economy and put things a little bit better." The crowd erupted into more cheers as he said his final thanks and exited the stage.

Martin has been working endlessly this year as the country is in financial crisis. He provides daily input and advice on issues such as the energy crisis and cost of living.
