Martin Lewis urges Tesco shoppers to use '50 trick' before the end of the month

Martin Lewis has urged Tesco shoppers across the country to use a '50p trick' to save clubcard vouchers.

Speaking on the final episode of this season's Martin Lewis Money Show Live on STV, the financial guru explained to viewers that they must act sharpish before the deadline. The hack will only work until the end of the November - so you only have a matter of days to take advantage!

Martin Lewis said: "When you got them two years ago, they only last two years and there's a deadline and people still haven't used £13M of them. So check whether you've got them at Tesco.com/Clubcard or via its app.

"But here's the trick: if you've got them and you don't want to spend them now. Take your £10 voucher, go online and buy a 50p restaurant voucher on its rewards page, which is worth £1.50. Now, you will get reissued £9.50, the change, in vouchers and they are new vouchers so they have a two year lifespan. So that's a way to extend them."

Continuing on the theme, the money saving expert also explained to viewers that the deadline to use up old stamps has been extended, reports Yorkshire Live. To check whether your stamps are old or new, simply look for the barcode (which means they are they newer version).

The deadline was previously set for January, but has now been extended to July 31, 2023.

Martin also used the show to explain to shoppers of all major supermarkets - including Asda, Sainsbury's, Morrisons, Tesco and Waitrose - that there are some 'free food' deals available to redeem in stores while stocks last.

Waitrose customers can get discounts on Onken Kefir yoghurts via the Shopmium app for example, with a 2L Coke Zero at £2. Tesco and Morrisons shoppers can also claim cash back at Hashting by simply uploading receipts.
