Mars Wrigley Makes Exclusive Deal With Walmart

Getting an exclusive deal with Walmart, the largest retailer in the world, is quite a big deal and candy maker Mars Wrigley just scored big with its latest deal with the Bentonville, Ark., store chain.

Exclusive products at Walmart mean a lot. It gives a new brand or product higher visibility than it could earn just about anywhere else in the world market of retailers. It’s not just newly launched products that want to partner up with Walmart; it's celebrities too.

Singer Halsey, who sings popular songs like "Without Me," "Bad at Love," and "Now or Never," launched their make-up About-Face in 2021. the brand partnered with Walmart in an exclusivity deal in 2021 for its af94 make-up line, according to Allure. The line is affordable with products being $10 and under, which is perfect for discount shoppers at Walmart.

Toy maker Hasbro has also scored exclusive deals with Walmart for specific toys, like Star Wars Black Series collector toys, according to Jedi Insider. Star Wars has a massive fan base and the deal between the brand and the retailer, was surely a mutual benefit for the partnership.

Even big brands want in on a Walmart deal. Getting preferred treatment in an exclusive deal means that Walmart is going to promote its exclusive deal, and the brand will get even more exposure for its products.

Mars Wrigley Sweet Deal

Walmart and Mars Wrigley have created an exclusive deal for chocolate lovers everywhere. The two companies announced that a new Mars candy bar will be made available exclusively at Walmart. Mars Wrigley is bringing a new flavor to the classic Snickers chocolate candy bar, Butterscotch Scoop.

The Snickers Butterscotch Scoop has the flavor of a classic Snickers with its milk chocolate, peanuts, caramel and now an infusion of butterscotch in the nougat.

"At Mars, we are always looking for new ways to excite long-time SNICKERS fans, especially through innovative new flavors," Martin Terwilliger, Mars Wrigley’s senior marketing director, said.

"With SNICKERS Butterscotch Scoop, we're offering a new format to enjoy a classic flavor, ushering in the summer season to help fans create moments of everyday happiness." The new sweet treat will be available at Walmart in July in two sizes, the single candy bar and a fun size pouch.

The new chocolate bar is described as "an epically more satisfying take on your grandma's all-time favorite flavor, butterscotch, in a classic Snickers bar," according to Brand Eating

No exact date available has been made public, and it's also unclear when this limited-time butterscotch-flavored Snickers is here for a bit or will be gone quickly.

Walmart Offers Continue

Walmart is running its summer savings event called Walmart+ Week from July 6 until July 13. The sale starts as an exclusive savings event for Walmart+ members only, and then opens to the public.

The Walmart+ Week sales event is in direct competition with Amazon (AMZN) -) Prime Days, which runs from July 11-12 and Target Circle Days, which runs July 9 through July 15. Both Amazon and Target's (TGT) -) sale is exclusive to the members of Amazon Prime and Target Circle Loyalty program.

While being a member of Target Circle Membership is free, only those who sign up for the loyalty program can access the week of deals. Amazon Prime deals are also exclusive to members only, and currently the Amazon Prime membership costs $139 annually or $14.99 a month. Walmart+ membership costs only $98 a year or $13 a month.

Both Walmart and Target have extended the summer savings against the Amazon Prime Sale compared to last year. Target's sale was previously Target Deal Days, and was open to all Target shoppers. This year it is exclusive to Target Circle Members, but the deals are available for a longer period of time.

Walmart's sale last year that rivaled Amazon Prime Days was open to all Walmart customers, but now it starts as an exclusive sale for Walmart+ members and then opens up to the public. Neither Target nor Amazon switch their summer sales to public like Walmart is.

Walmart+ Week of sales is also longer than it was previously, probably to be on par with Target and still more available than Amazon Prime Days. The coming week is full of deals all around, so there's no excuse not to save.
