Marco Pierre White surprises diners in Swansea by turning up at his own restaurant

Chef and restaurateur Marco Pierre White surprised diners at his restaurant in Swansea when he arrived for a dinner with friends. Marco 60, took time to discuss new menu ideas and dishes with head chef John Taylor and some lucky customers enjoying their meals. The well-known entrepreneur's visit was another stop on his Welsh trip which also saw him take in Sunday lunch in Tenby.

Marco hails from Leeds and owns more than 30 restaurants across the UK including many which operate under the Marco Pierre White Steakhouse, Bar, and Grill brand. His restaurant in Swansea is located in SA1 and is popular with locals, visitors and celebrities alike. Just last month it welcomed Love Island stars Adam Collard and Paige Thorne.

Restaurant manager Ellie Boer said: "It's always great to see Marco visit us here in Swansea. He spent a lot of time with our head chef John discussing new menu ideas and dishes and what he thought about the new autumn and Sunday roast menu which we're just about to launch.

"We then spoke about guests' experiences and the importance of creating memorable experiences before he dined in Marco's Table, which is our private dining room. He also mingled and chatted with guests who were both delighted and surprised to see that the person the restaurant is named after was actually there in person to check that everything was up to his exacting standard. He takes a lot of interest in his restaurants and it's always great to see him here in Swansea. It gives the team a real boost and they were all buzzing during and after his visit."

Head chef John added: "His knowledge of food and dining out is second to none and it was inspiring to spend some time with him." Staff at the restaurant shared pictures of Marco's visit on the restaurant's Facebook page and many people were pleased to know he had visited. One diner commented: "I met him there, what a nice guy!"
