A man allegedly seen yielding a large knife in Johnstone town centre yesterday has been detained.
Police were called to Johnstone town centre at around 5.50pm following reports a man was armed with a knife .
Officers were on the scene within minutes and the man was restrained.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 5.50pm on Thursday, October 27 officers from the violence reduction unit based at Ferguslie Park Police Station responded to a report of a man armed with a knife in Johnstone town centre.
"Within minutes the man was detained and a large kitchen knife was recovered.
"The 47-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with the incident. He was also charged with drugs and shoplifting offences. He will appear at Paisley Sheriff Court today."
