A man has been taken to hospital with what are described as “life-changing injuries” after a crash between a car and a motorcycle in Pontarddulais. The collision happened shortly before 7.50am on Tuesday at a junction connecting the A48 with a country lane.
Police and paramedics have been at the scene and Heol y Barna has been closed while investigations into the crash continue. One man, who was riding the motorcycle, has been taken to a Cardiff hospital with serious injuries.
A spokesman for South Wales Police said on Tuesday: “Shortly after 7.50am emergency services were called following a road traffic collision between a car and a motorcycle on Heol y Barna, Pontarddulais, at its junction with the A48. The male motorcyclist has been taken by ambulance to the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff. His injuries are described as life-changing. The road remains closed while investigations continue. Motorists are advise to take alternative routes.”
A spokeswoman for the Welsh Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 7.48am morning to a road traffic collision on Heol y Barna in Swansea. We deployed two rapid response vehicles, an emergency ambulance, and were supported by the Emergency Medical Retrieval and Transfer Service. One patient was conveyed to University Hospital of Wales for further treatment.”
