Man accused of abduction, rape, seeking $300k ransom

A man faces abduction and sex assault charges after being extradited from Victoria to NSW. (HANDOUT/NSW POLICE)

A man who allegedly drugged and kidnapped a woman, recording her being sexually assaulted before attempting to extort a $300,000 ransom for the images, will remain behind bars after being extradited.

Yanyu Mu was arrested at Oakleigh East in Victoria on Thursday.

The 29-year-old was extradited to Sydney and did not apply for bail at Parramatta Local Court on Saturday.

He has been charged with aggravated sexual assault in company and deprive liberty, detain in company with intent to ransom occasioning actual bodily harm, use intoxicating substance to commit indictable offence, and knowingly directing the activities of a criminal group.

He also faces charges for recording the alleged sexual assault and threatening to distribute the images, with police alleging he sought a $300,000 ransom.

A brief of evidence is to be served before Mu returns to court in August.

Police allege he directed a group of men who forced a 36-year-old woman into a car at Epping in Sydney's northwest in April.

She was taken to hospital for treatment the next day after telling police investigating her kidnapping she had been drugged and sexually assaulted.

Detectives found her clothing, as well as drugs and bindings believed to have been used in the alleged sexual assault in the bin of an Eastwood home, not far from where the woman was abducted.

The items were taken for forensic examination.
