A NSW south coast man who is alleged to have viciously attacked a woman while she slept, has been refused bail in the ACT Magistrates Court.
The 22-year-old was extradited from Bega to Canberra yesterday.
The court heard, the man was staying with the woman in the south Canberra suburb of Wanniassa on a weekend in March when the incident is alleged to have occurred.
It is alleged she woke up with a large gash across the back of her neck.
The court heard the cut was 5 millimetres from being a fatal injury.
The man was refused bail.
Editor's note 6/12/22: In a judge-alone hearing, Justice Terence Higgins found that there was "reasonable doubt as to the guilt of the accused", due to the possibility of the involvement of a third person. Justice Higgins found the man not guilty.
