Man electrocuted on private property in northern Queensland

Police say the 50-year-old man died at a private property near Mackay after being electrocuted. (ABC News: Lucas Hill)

A man has died after being electrocuted in a work-related incident on a property in north Queensland.

Emergency services were called to an address on Cape Hillsborough Road at Ball Bay, north of Mackay, about 1pm yesterday.

A police spokeswoman said a man in his 50s was found unresponsive at the private property and died at the scene.

The incident is work related and a joint investigation with the Electrical Safety Office is now underway, Workplace Health and Safety said.

Police are also assisting.

Ergon Energy confirmed the person who died was not one of their staff or a contractor.

The Queensland Ambulance Service said another person was assessed at the scene, but was not injured.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
