A man has been arrested after a bus was spotted driving along tram tracks.
The startling image of a bus driving along the Metro Link tracks in Greater Manchester was published online by police in the early hours of this morning (Thursday March 16).
Greater Manchester Police Traffic Officers posted a picture of the bus travelling along the Metrolink tram tracks on its official Twitter account, reports the Manchester Evening News. The post alleged that the driver was unfit to be in charge of the vehicle through drink and/or drugs, reports the Manchester Evening News.

They said blood samples had been taken from the driver after he was detained on suspicion of various different offences. The post at 4.31am today read: "The wheels on this bus no longer go round and round!
In the tweet, the police alleged that the driver of the bus was "unfit through drink/drugs" and that "he thought his bus was a tram and decided to drive along the tram tracks!".
"Driver arrested for several [suspected] offences and blood samples taken!" added the GMP tweet.
Anyone convicted of drug driving will receive a minimum one-year driving ban, an unlimited fine, up to six months in prison and a criminal record. The penalty for causing death by dangerous driving under the influence of drugs is a prison sentence of up to 14 years.
