Man, 23, gets back tattoo of his girlfriend's name after just six months of dating

A 23-year-old man has been ridiculed on social media for getting a giant tattoo of his girlfriend’s name on his back after just six months of dating.

Key Matthews, from Shropshire, spent £110 and sat for two hours to have the first name of his partner, Elisha Christina Nash, inked in giant black letters onto his skin.

But the factory worker claimed he doesn’t regret the decision.

“I'm really happy with it but it will take some getting used to,” he said.

"My mum and dad said the obvious reactions like 'no offence but what if you did split up'.”

He added: "My dad has a tattoo of my mum's name and they have been together 20 years."

Matthews shared pictures of his new look online, while the tattoo was still red and raw.

He said he has “quite a big back” so it was better to “go big or go home”.

But TikTok users weren’t so convinced.

One said: "Oh he'll regret that" while another commented: "Unlucky mate".

Another said: "Let's hope they don't split up".

However his doting girlfriend Nash, 24, is supportive of the tattoo.

The chef even has her own of Key's name.

She said: "I wasn't allowed in with him when he had it done.

"I knew it was going to be big but seeing it swollen fresh out of the studio it was a shock and obviously mine isn't even half the size of that.

"I don't think it's strengthened our relationship. We're a strong couple regardless but quite impulsive at times. We have similar interests and like our tattoos.”

She said the online criticism doesn’t faze the couple.

Nash added: "We have had some previous videos which reached over a million but this has blown up our phones in 24 hours.

"We expected the backlash. It's known in this day and age that you are always going to get trolls," she said.

"Everyone hides behind a screen and for some reason thinks it's okay to post harsh comments.

"We don't take it seriously. We're happy and they must not be as they've gone through other videos and commented about us on them too. It's really quite mad."

Key added: "I'm quite a strong character and don't take social media and opinions of others to heart. I just laugh it off."

Some TikTok users think the tattoo is sweet.

One user said: "Yeah he's the one sis".

Another wrote: "Love it".
