From today, Tesco shoppers will see a major change relating to their Clubcard. The supermarket's app - which lets you scan a digital version of your Clubcard, as well as view and spend your points - is no longer available to use. It is being shut down on Tuesday, April 18.
According to a report by the Mirror, Tesco shoppers must download the revamped Clubcard & Grocery app to avoid missing out on points. The move follows the retailer's closure of the Pay+ app at the end of February. The new version essentially combines the Pay+ and clubcard so that one app allows a shopper to pay for their goods and collect Clubcard points. The app is also said to allow shoppers to view their balance, spend any vouchers earned, order a grocery delivery and check stock in their local store.
The Grocery & Clubcard app, which was previously called the Tesco Grocery app, is available to download for free on Android and iPhone. Shoppers can also continue to use their physical Clubcards in stores as normal.
A spokesperson for Tesco said: "Bringing the functionality of Tesco Pay+ into the Tesco Grocery & Clubcard app is a demonstration of our focus on providing products which closely align to the needs of Tesco shoppers."

Shoppers will still be able to collect Clubcard points and convert them into Tesco vouchers. Each point is worth 1p in-store, meaning 150 points are worth £1.50 to spend in the supermarket. However, there are other changes in the pipeline that shoppers need to be aware and this change will hit Tesco shoppers in the pocket.
From Wednesday, June 14, customers will get less money for their Clubcard points when redeemed with a "Rewards Partner". Shoppers will only be able to double the value of their Clubcard points, rather than triple them as they currently do. Tesco currently has more than 100 "Rewards Partners" including brands like Legoland, Alton Towers, Cineworld and Hotels.com.
The supermarket is also changing the amount of points you can get when you fill up your car at its forecourts. Currently, drivers get one point for every £2 they spend on fuel - but from Wednesday, June 14, you'll get one point for every two litres of fuel you buy.
