New research from Fitbit suggests fatherhood can have a big impact on your health and wellness. The survey shows that 68% of British dads have never returned to the health level they were before becoming a father, with 58% of men surveyed giving up a fitness activity when they had their first child.
For those who have managed to return to their pre-fatherhood health level, it has taken 2.6 years on average. More specifically, the survey found that: 21% of dads say they gave up on going to the gym regularly; 19% of Dads say they gave up on recreational team sport; 19% gave up on running regularly; 16% gave up cycling regularly; with 14% giving up their gym membership entirely.
And yet, children prove a great motivator for fathers to improve their health and wellness. For those fathers who gave up physical activity when they became a parent for the first time, over two fifths (43%) of those surveyed, would be motivated to get healthier in order to be a good role model for their children, and 28% want to be able to join in on more activities with their children.
Fitbit has a number of products ideal for dads currently on sale.
